Around 50 activists with knitted lines and roses gathered in Luxembourg's Plass at 12.00 and displayed all the knitted work of several months made by thousands of people from 9 countries. A call to action was made to all newly appointed European deputies and some came to receive a scarf made by its own country people. In total, 10 MEPs showed up, to make a serious commitment to our collective demands: Sigrid Friss (Denmark), Asger Christensen (Denmark), Rasmus Nordqist (Denmark). Stine Bosse (denmark), Catarina Martins (Portugal), Anja Hazekamp (Netherlands), Hanna Gedin (Sweden), Pär Holmgren (Sweden), Isabella Lövin (Swedejn) and Jussi Saramo (Finland).
A march was seen and songs were heard walking down to the memorial site, the Rosa's Tree, in order to honor her memory, a 15-year-old girl who tragically drowned in the devastating climate-induced floods that hit Western Europe in the summer of 2021, claiming the lives of 220 people in Belgium and Germany. A minute of silence of was done in her honor and also in honor of all the lives that have already been lost in the Global South due to the climate crisis.
At the same time of this event, in the Scottish Parliament, the group North Sea Knitters held a demo as well, in solidarity and demand from their deputies the same demands. In Bristol, a group of knitters Craftivists gathered at City Hall, College Green with their Climate Red Lines, in solidarity with this current demo. Below, there are some of the photographs from several demos.
